I have an iPhone 3gs which was operating on 4.0.1 (I dont know which version of BB), This was funtioning device which was bought from outside the country. Its serial num. is 860100JM3NP, IMEI num is 012162002196974. When I plugged the device into the computer through iTunes, it offrerd a upgrade of the os. Since it was being offered by the company, I went ahead and uograded my os. What I did not know was that this ugrades the BB also, in my case it upgraded to 5.1.1 (9B206) BB 06.15.00. When I rebooted the device it lost the funationality. Only way to make it work was to go for jailbreaking and activating through free softwares available on net. I did this to no avail. So I went agead and downgraded the os to 4.1 (8B117), but the BB could not be downgraded. Anyway, I tried to actvate the phone, but did not succeed. It now recognizes the sim, brings about all the sim functions, and the phone number also. But it is not able to bring up the network. Keeps searching and finally says no service. I am not ab;e to disable the automatic selection of carrier in the setting. It keeps saying "unable to load network list". But in the phone option of the setting, it shows the carrier name.
What I want to know is whether Apple offers an official activation at a cost. If so what will be the cost? I want the phone to work on any carrier in India. Your reply will be greatly appreciated.
